Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan
Since its foundation in 2003 by wife-and-husband team Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan, Poketo has grown from a small startup into a creative hub. A lifestyle brand born out of the desire to infuse everyday with aesthetic intentionality, Poketo has carefully curated and created a collection of design-conscious goods meant to cultivate a creative lifestyle. In addition to its online store, Poketo has two LA-based retail locations in DTLA and Little Tokyo, each of which hosts art exhibitions, workshops and other events that serve to foster the local creative community. The new flagship, Poketo Project Space at ROW DTLA, is a concept space with rotating pop-ups by different brands, artists, designers, and makers.
When Angie and Ted start their design process, they pick a theme and colors that they are inspired by twice a year, Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter and design a full collection around them for design cohesiveness in many categories of stationery, accessories, home, and apparel since they are a lifestyle company that focuses on multi categories. The materials and creative inspirations change from season to season.
Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan moved to LA in 2004, right after they founded Poketo. They love the creative energy and synergy in collaborations. Just the sheer size of LA and the surrounding area makes them feel like they’re still new to the city even after being here for 16 years. They are constantly discovering new areas to explore and new people to meet.
