Myan Soffia started photography in 2008 when she realized she wanted to document the city as she sees it…magical, vibrant and full of life. She had always been interested in photography but she had never seriously pursued it. A friend of hers encouraged her to start selling her work online in 2008. She thought she’d give it a try, and she is happy she did.
Myan’s photography process usually involves inviting her husband and son to wander around town with her. They love to try out new restaurants and experience new places. She will have an area in mind that she wants to spend some time in, and then she’ll just kind of see what’s out there. Then when she gets a chance she goes through and marks the shots that she has an instant connection to. And then works on the ones she’s most excited about. She loves the editing process. She makes her favorite ones available for sale and hopes that there are others out there that will connect to her work. As far as materials, all of her images are printed on archival papers and museum grade canvas.
Originally from the east coast, Myan has called Los Angeles her home since 2005. She loves being able to capture the beauty and diversity of our city. She feels blessed to live in Northeast Los Angeles and have an amazing view of the city from her home. Her view inspires her to get out there and be a part of the energy.
