About HEDLEY & BENNETT
Founded by: Ellen Bennett
Founded in: 2012
Hedley & Bennett, the LA-based apron company, was born in 2012 to inspire a sense of dignity and pride in the kitchen and beyond.
Founder and Designer Ellen Bennett recognized a recurring pattern in drab kitchen workwear: bland, generic, and essentially disposable uniforms that were completely uninspiring. Therefore, she embarked upon a mission to create aprons that make people feel as amazing as the food they prepared.
Through the community of culinary professionals, Hedley & Bennett’s aprons have turned into a nationwide movement. Bennett grew her operation from a 400 square foot office to their apron headquarters/showroom in a 14,000 sq. ft factory in Vernon all in under three years. Now 5 years into business, Hedley & Bennett outfits over 4000 restaurants worldwide!
Each Hedley & Bennett product is handcrafted from start to finish using top grade American canvas, raw Japanese selvage denim and European linens. These unique pieces are built to last — each fabrication detail carefully considered and tested to handle the rigorous hustle and bustle of a professional kitchen. The designs come directly from feedback from professional chefs worldwide. Creative problem solving with aprons is the nature of what makes Hedley & Bennett so special.
The team at Hedley and Bennett believe being part of the creative force in LA, along side other LA-based businesses, is truly a privilege. They describe Los Angeles as a “magnet for creative talents,” and they’re inspired by seeing what others are soaking in and churning out.
